Instructions for maintenance of stone tiles

The painted stone tiles are sealed with a stone impregnator to protect them form moisture, dirt & oil. It is however important to have an ongoing maintenance program. We recommend sealing all tiles with 511 Porous or similar compatible impregnator. For grouts we use sanded grouts only. Reseal painted tiles every year following these guidelines. Do not use harsh abrasive cleansers. Field (unpainted tiles for fill) are not sealed .

Note: always inspect your tiles before installation. Any questions as to acceptability must be resolved before installation.

Bathroom or Floor information:
If you wish to use the tile on the floor, do not place in a high traffic area. Borders or similar are fine. But in high traffic like by the doorway, the wear will be too great. Now for the bath or shower. We have had no problem with steam or water in the past. Just reseal the tile more often. (once every 1 to 2 years prox.)

Lead Free Glazes
There are many factors that determine variations in colors that result from high-fired glazed stoneware, many of which are a challenge to control. Therefore, each piece is unique and there are often variations in color between sets. Only lead free glazes are used and the ceramics have undergone FDA testing to ensure there are no traces of lead nor cadmium.

Instructions and Information for Painted Art tiles

  •   Tiles are sealed with three coats of water-based polyurethane, but additional coats may be applied for further protection.
  •   Tiles may be wiped with a damp sponge, or if greasy,  a MILD grease remover may be used on a sponge or soft cloth.
  •   DO NOT USE GROUT with installation of these tiles - it will ruin the finish.  If installing tiles in a kitchen backsplash  (without grout), you may use a tile mastic glue, or if preferred, hang them by nail or hook.
  •   Tiles should not be used in bathrooms - steam may loosen artwork on the tiles.
  •   Tiles should not be used outside or near intense heat (fireplace).
